Reddit Ad Creative Lasts 3 to 4 Months: What It Means for Your Budget

In our experience, a good Reddit ad keeps working for about 3 to 4 months before it needs replacing. On Meta or TikTok, many brands refresh creative every few weeks. That difference changes the math: you need fewer new ads, each ad has more time to pay back its production cost, and a test that looks expensive in week one can be cheap by month three. So Reddit ad creative deserves more time and care than you'd give a Meta ad.

How long ad creative lasts: in our experience about 3 to 4 months on Reddit vs a refresh every few weeks for many brands on Meta or TikTok

Why does Reddit creative last longer?

We see a few reasons in the accounts we run:

  • Community targeting spreads delivery across many different subreddits, so the same person sees your ad less often.

  • Reddit users scroll communities, not one endless personal feed, so ads don't repeat in the same way.

  • Ads that look like real posts, with open comments, keep collecting replies and upvotes, which keeps them fresh.

This is a pattern from our own campaigns, not a Reddit rule. Your results depend on budget, audience size and how often the same people see the ad.

What does a longer creative life mean for your budget?

  • You spend less on production. Fewer, better ads beat a constant stream of new ones.

  • You can afford better creative. If an ad runs for 3 months, spending more time on it pays off.

  • You should judge spend over months, not days. The first weeks include testing; the payoff comes when the winners run for months.

How do you know when a Reddit ad is tired?

  • The click-through rate drops for 2 weeks in a row with no change in targeting.

  • Cost per result rises while the audience and budget stay the same.

  • Comments start repeating the same jokes or "I keep seeing this ad".

  • Frequency, the number of times one person sees it, keeps climbing.

Four signs a Reddit ad is tired: click-through rate drops 2 weeks in a row, cost per result rises, repeated comments, rising frequency

One bad day isn't fatigue. Look at weekly trends before you replace anything.

How should you refresh Reddit creative?

  1. Keep your best 2 or 3 ads, the core performers, running untouched.

  2. Test new ads in a separate ad group with its own budget, so the winners aren't disturbed.

  3. Change one thing at a time: the headline, the image, or the angle.

  4. Swap a tired ad only when a new one beats it, not on a fixed calendar.

Reddit ad creative: FAQ

How often should you change Reddit ads?

In our experience, good Reddit ads last about 3 to 4 months. Replace an ad when the numbers show fatigue, not on a fixed schedule.

Is Reddit creative fatigue the same as on Meta?

No. In our experience it comes much slower on Reddit, because community targeting spreads ads across many audiences.

How many ads should one ad group have?

Start with 4 to 6, then keep the best 2 or 3 after one to two weeks.
