Reddit Ads Country Targeting: Which Countries to Pick With No Player Data

If you have no player or customer data, don't target the whole world and don't guess one country. Start from data on games or products similar to yours, pick a short list of countries that match on language, price and genre, and test them in separate ad groups. After a few weeks, your own results replace the guesswork. That's the whole idea behind Reddit ads country targeting without data.

Why does country targeting matter on Reddit?

Costs and results vary a lot between countries. Some markets cost more per view but bring more buyers; others are cheap but rarely convert. Targeting everywhere spreads a small budget too thin, and one wrong country can make a good ad look like a failure.

How do you pick countries with no data?

  1. Look at comparable games or products. Public analytics sites show where similar games are played or followed. Pick 3 to 5 titles close to yours in genre and price.

  2. Check language. If your game or store page is English-only, start with countries where people are comfortable buying in English.

  3. Check price. A price that feels normal in one country can feel high in another.

  4. Check where your community already is. Discord members, newsletter sign-ups and wishlists from organic posts all hint at countries.

  5. Start with the markets where Reddit itself is biggest. The US is Reddit's largest market, followed by other English-speaking countries.

How should you test countries on Reddit?

  • Put each country, or each small group of similar countries, in its own ad group.

  • Use the same ads and similar budgets so the test is fair.

  • Add the country to your UTM campaign name, so your store or Steam analytics shows which country each visit came from.

  • Give each ad group at least 2 weeks before you compare.

  • Compare cost per wishlist, sign-up or sale, not cost per click.

What should you do once data comes in?

Move budget to the countries with the best cost per result, pause the worst, and test one new country at a time. If you launch on Steam, wishlist and sales data by country will soon show you where your players are; use it to update your targeting every month.

Reddit ads country targeting: FAQ

Should I target all countries on Reddit?

Usually no. A small budget spread worldwide teaches you little. Start with a few countries that match your game or product and test them separately.

Which country is Reddit's biggest market?

The United States, followed by other English-speaking countries.

How long should a country test run?

At least 2 weeks per ad group, with similar budgets and the same ads, before you compare cost per result.
