Reddit Dynamic Product Ads + Shopify: 2026 Setup Guide

Reddit's Dynamic Product Ads (DPAs) turn your product catalog into ads automatically. To run them you need a product catalog, the Reddit Pixel or Conversions API sending ViewContent, AddToCart and Purchase events with product IDs that match your catalog, and the catalog mapped to your pixel. If you're on Shopify, Reddit's Shopify integration does most of the setup: connect your store, a pixel is installed without code, and your catalog syncs automatically.

What are Reddit Dynamic Product Ads?

DPAs build ads from your catalog and show the right products to the right people, using machine learning, user discussions and your product data. You can show a single product as an image ad, or several as a carousel. Reddit rolled DPAs out to all advertisers after a global beta, and said advertisers running both DPAs and standard conversion campaigns saw double the return on ad spend in Q1 2025. That's Reddit's own figure, so treat it as a benchmark to test, not a promise.

What do you need before you start?

This is Reddit's own checklist, from Reddit's Dynamic Product Ads help page:

  1. Set up a product catalog.

  2. Install the Reddit Pixel or Conversions API.

  3. Create AddToCart, ViewContent and Purchase events. A product ID is required for all of them, and currency and value are required for Purchase events.

  4. Verify your integration with Events Manager and the Pixel Helper.

  5. Map your product catalog to the Pixel and check your catalog diagnostics.

The one rule to remember: the product ID in your catalog and the product ID in your Pixel events must match, so Reddit knows they refer to the same product. See Reddit's Catalog Setup help page.

What Dynamic Product Ads need

How does the Reddit Shopify integration work?

Reddit launched the Shopify integration in alpha in March 2026 and later opened it to all merchants. Reddit's steps can change, so follow the on-screen prompts. The flow looks like this:

  1. In Reddit Ads, open Catalogs and click Connect Shopify.

  2. Authorize your store. You'll be asked to install Reddit's app in Shopify.

  3. Reddit installs the Reddit Pixel on your store without changing your theme code.

  4. Your catalog syncs automatically, and stays updated with images, prices, descriptions and inventory.

  5. Create your first Dynamic Product Ad.

If you're not on Shopify, you can still create a catalog manually by uploading a product feed.

How do you create your first DPA campaign?

  1. Create an ad group, and choose your product catalog.

  2. Choose a product set. For your first DPA campaign, Reddit recommends all products, to collect the most signals.

  3. Enable the Dynamic ads toggle.

  4. Choose an image ad for one product, or a carousel for several.

  5. Choose whether the caption shows the product's description or price.

  6. Use the destination URL from your catalog, or override it with a custom one.

For carousels, you can also enable "prevent single-product delivery", so the ad only shows when more than one product is chosen.

What are Collection ads?

Collection ads pair a lifestyle hero image with shoppable product tiles in a single DPA carousel. Reddit announced them in March 2026 and said early advertisers following its best practices saw an 8% lift in return on ad spend. Reddit is also testing community and deal overlays that surface Reddit-native signals inside ads.

What results has Reddit reported?

Reddit said Ethnotek, a Shopify merchant selling backpacks and accessories, reached a 4x return on ad spend and cut customer acquisition cost by 40% against its benchmark, using DPAs and retargeting through the integration. This is a Reddit-reported case, not ours, and we haven't verified it.

What should you check so DPAs track properly?

  • Product IDs match between the catalog and every pixel event.

  • Events fire correctly in Events Manager and the Pixel Helper.

  • Use both the pixel and the Conversions API. In our experience, a properly set up pixel alone catches about half. See Reddit Pixel and Conversions API guide.

  • Check Reddit's numbers against Shopify. See the Reddit attribution gap.

DPAs are conversion-based, so they need a site where you can install the pixel. For pages you don't own, see how to track Reddit ads without the pixel.
