Reddit Engaged Video Views: The 15-Second Goal, Explained

Reddit engaged video views are a bidding goal for video ads. Instead of paying for quick views, you pay for people who watch at least 15 seconds, or the whole video if it's shorter. It's in public beta now, with a full launch expected around Q1–Q2 2027. Here's how it works and when to use it.
This post is part of our Reddit ads roadmap. Dates are estimates and can shift.
How do Reddit engaged video views work?
A view counts when someone watches 15 seconds, or the full video if it's 15 seconds or shorter.
Campaigns are billed on engaged video views, so you pay for people who actually watched.
Bidding is automatic, with Lowest Cost or Cost Cap.
Reddit's 6-second video views goal stays, so you can pick either one.

What results has Reddit shared?
Reddit says early testers saw a 51% better 15-second view-through rate and a 71% increase in video completion rates. Reddit also shared that JCPenney saw a 90% higher video completion rate. These are Reddit's numbers, and results vary by video.
15-second or 6-second views: which should you pick?
Pick 15 seconds for trailers, product demos and testimonials that need time to make the point.
Pick 6 seconds when your message lands in the first few seconds or the video is short.
Not sure? Reddit lets you split test the two goals during the beta.
How do you get the most from it?
Put the hook in the first 2 seconds anyway. People still need a reason to keep watching.
Add captions, since many people scroll with the sound off.
Test against 6-second views for at least two weeks, as Reddit suggests.
Look past the view count: compare site visits, wishlists or sign-ups from each goal.
