New Reddit Video Ads: 15-Second Views, Full-Screen Vertical Video and Captions

Reddit video ads are getting more room and smarter bidding. You can already pay for 6-second or 15-second engaged views. Next come full-screen vertical video, caption uploads, video view campaigns in Max and bigger takeover spots. Here's what each change does and how to get your videos ready.
This post is part of our Reddit ads roadmap. Dates are estimates and can shift.
What's live for Reddit video ads now?
6-second engaged views (live): a bidding goal for short videos where the message lands fast.
15-second engaged views (public beta since September 2026, full launch expected around Q1–Q2 2027): a view counts after 15 seconds, or when someone finishes a video that's 15 seconds or shorter.
Video in Collection Ads (live): a lifestyle video can lead a Collection Ad, with your products in a row below it.
AMA ads (live): promote an ask-me-anything thread as an ad, so people can ask your team questions.

What it means for you: pick the goal by video length. Short clips fit 6-second views. Trailers and demos that need time fit 15-second views.
What's coming next for Reddit video ads?
Full-screen vertical video (testing expected around Q4 2026–Q1 2027, wider in 2027): vertical video ads that fill the phone screen, sold in the normal ad auction.
Caption uploads (expected around Q4 2026–Q1 2027): add a caption file so your video works on mute. Automatic captions are expected later.
Max for video views (expected in 2027): Max runs video view campaigns with the same hands-off setup it uses for traffic and conversions.
Video replies in brand AMAs (testing expected around Q4 2026–Q1 2027): brands are expected to answer AMA questions with video.

What about takeover video ads?
Takeovers put your ad in Reddit's most visible spots for a day, and they're sold through Reddit's sales team. Those spots are expected to get bigger around late 2026–early 2027, and Reddit is expected to sell slices of a takeover day, with testing around Q4 2026–Q1 2027. A slice of launch day could make takeovers possible on smaller budgets.
How should you prepare your videos?
Make a vertical cut of every video, with the hook in the first 2 seconds.
Add captions or on-screen text. Most people scroll with the sound off.
Re-cut for Reddit: same footage, a new opening that talks to the thread, not at it.
Pick the goal by length: 6-second views for short clips, 15-second views for trailers and demos.
Judge video on what happens next, like wishlists, sign-ups or sales, not views alone.
Sizes and lengths are in Reddit Video Ad Specs (2026).
