Reddit verified profiles show a grey checkmark next to accounts that proved who they are. Reddit started testing them with public figures and a few businesses in December 2025. In July 2026 it opened a self-serve process for businesses and organizations. Here's what the checkmark means and how to get one.

This post is part of our Reddit ads roadmap. Dates are estimates and can shift.

What are Reddit verified profiles?

A verified profile has a grey checkmark next to its name on its profile, in feeds, in communities and in search. For a business, it means the account belongs to a business or organization that verified its identity. Reddit says it's not about status: verified accounts follow the same rules, and moderators still decide what stays up.

How has Reddit verification rolled out?

  • December 2025: Reddit began a small test with public figures it picked and businesses that already had official badges.

  • July 2026: testing expanded to businesses and organizations, with a self-serve process in account settings.

  • Next: a wider rollout is expected around Q4 2026–Q1 2027. Timing can shift.

Why does a checkmark matter for Reddit ads?

Redditors check who is talking before they trust it. A checkmark tells them the ad comes from the real company, not a reseller or a copycat. Verified businesses also get profile flairs to point people to things like AMAs or announcements. Reddit hasn't shared numbers on how verification affects ad results.

How do you get verified on Reddit?

  1. Set up a complete brand profile: logo, banner, a short bio and a link to your site.

  2. Post and reply from it, so it's active and in good standing.

  3. Look for the verification option in your account settings. It's still a test, so it may not show for every account yet.

  4. Keep the profile active after you get the checkmark.
