The Reddit optimization score rates each campaign from 0 to 100% and lists suggested fixes. Reddit says advertisers with a score of 80% or higher saw 19.6% lower blended cost per acquisition (CPA) than advertisers with lower scores. It's live now. Here's what the score means and how to use it without following every tip.

This post is part of our Reddit ads roadmap. Dates are estimates and can shift.

What is the Reddit optimization score?

It's a score for each campaign, shown when you create or edit one. It combines a 0 to 100% rating with recommendations for that campaign. Reddit has had an account-level score since July 2025; the October 2026 update brought it down to each campaign.

Does a higher score mean better results?

Not by itself. Reddit also found that a 5-point increase was associated with a 4.4% lower blended CPA. That's a link, not proof: bigger budgets or more experienced teams could explain part of the gap. As PPC Land notes, the score largely measures how many of Reddit's suggestions you've taken.

Which suggestions should you follow?

  • Usually worth it: fixes for broken tracking, more ad versions to test, and budgets too small to learn.

  • Test first: broader targeting and automatic placements. They can lower costs, but they can also bring less relevant clicks.

  • Skip if it doesn't fit: anything that changes your goal or spreads a small budget across too many ad groups.

What launched with the optimization score?

Reddit also launched campaign budget optimization. It moves budget between ad groups toward the ones doing best. Reddit says traffic campaigns using it saw 10% lower cost per click. It's available for awareness and traffic campaigns, and in beta for sales, lead generation and app promotion. Reddit's campaign planner came out at the same time.

Reddit optimization score: FAQ

What is a good Reddit optimization score?

Reddit uses 80% as the line. Advertisers at 80% or higher saw lower blended CPA in Reddit's data, but a high score doesn't guarantee better results.

Should I follow every Reddit recommendation?

No. Follow the ones that fix real problems, test the ones that change targeting or placements, and skip the ones that don't fit your goal.

Where do I find the Reddit optimization score?

In Reddit Ads Manager, on each campaign when you create or edit it.
