Reddit Collection Ads vs Dynamic Product Ads: Which Should You Use?

Updated: 4 days ago
Reddit Collection Ads show one big lifestyle image or video on top, with a row of products from your catalog below. Dynamic Product Ads (DPA) pick the right product for each person automatically. Collection Ads sell the look; DPA sells the item. Here's how they compare, what's still in testing, and which one to start with.
This post is part of our Reddit ads roadmap. Dates are estimates and can shift.
What are Reddit Collection Ads?
Reddit launched Collection Ads in March 2026 and announced them at Shoptalk. Each ad leads with a hero image or video and adds shoppable product tiles from your catalog underneath. Reddit says early results showed an 8% lift in return on ad spend for advertisers who followed its creative best practices.

What are Reddit Dynamic Product Ads?
Dynamic Product Ads pull products, images and prices from your catalog and match them to people based on what they browse and which communities they join. They also retarget people who viewed your products. DPA opened to all advertisers in May 2025. Reddit reported 2x higher return on ad spend for advertisers who ran DPA next to standard conversion campaigns in Q1 2025.

Collection Ads vs Dynamic Product Ads: what's the difference?
Collection Ads: one story plus several products. Best for a launch, a seasonal drop or products that go together.
Dynamic Product Ads: the right product for each person, picked automatically. Best for big catalogs and for retargeting people who viewed products.
Both need a connected product catalog. Shopify stores can connect one through Reddit's Shopify integration, which became generally available in May 2026. Setup steps are in our Dynamic Product Ads + Shopify guide.
What's in testing for Reddit shopping ads?
Deal overlays (in testing, wider timing not announced): when an item in your catalog is on sale, Reddit adds a sale badge to its ad automatically.
Community overlays (in testing): labels like "Redditors' Top Pick" on products people already talk about on Reddit.
Product set filters (live, more expected around Q4 2026 through 2027): combine rules so a campaign shows only the products you pick, like in-stock or high-margin items. Running one shopping campaign across several countries is expected next.

Which should you use first?
Start with Dynamic Product Ads if you sell more than a handful of products and your Reddit Pixel works. Retargeting people who viewed products is the easiest place to start, because they already know you.
Add Collection Ads when you have a strong lifestyle photo or video and a few products that belong together.
Keep sale prices in your catalog accurate. Deal badges read straight from it, so a wrong price shows the wrong deal.
Judge both on cost per purchase, not on clicks.

An ad format with one large image or video on top and a row of shoppable products from your catalog below. Reddit launched it in March 2026.
Do I need a product catalog for Collection Ads?
Yes. Collection Ads and Dynamic Product Ads both pull products from a connected catalog. Shopify stores can connect theirs through Reddit's Shopify integration.
Are Collection Ads better than Dynamic Product Ads?
Neither is better for every brand. Collection Ads tell one story around several products, while Dynamic Product Ads match single products to each person. Many shops run both.
