Reddit ads for Shopify and DTC brands work when three things are in place: tracking that sees sales, targeting built on the communities where your buyers already talk, and ads that sound like a Reddit post instead of a store banner. Get those right and Reddit can bring customers that other channels miss, often with a lift in brand searches on top.

Are Reddit ads good for DTC brands?

Yes, especially for products people research before they buy: tech accessories, hobby gear, home products, anything with an enthusiast community. Reddit is where people ask "what should I buy?", and community targeting lets you show up in exactly those places. In our experience, Reddit is weaker for impulse products with no community behind them.

How should a Shopify store set up tracking?

  1. Install the Reddit Pixel through Reddit's Shopify integration or your theme.

  2. Add the Conversions API so purchases still count when browsers block the pixel.

  3. Check that Purchase, Add to Cart and View Content events fire with values.

  4. Add UTM links to every ad so Shopify analytics shows Reddit traffic separately.

Which communities should a DTC brand target?

Start with the problem your product solves, not your product category. A mousepad brand doesn't need people who like "gaming"; it needs people in communities about desk setups, specific games and PC builds. Relevance beats reach: a smaller, precise audience usually beats a big general one on cost per customer.

  • Build a list of 10 to 20 communities where your buyers ask for advice.

  • Check which ones you can target with our free subreddit finder.

  • Group similar communities into 2 or 3 ad groups and test them against each other.

What creative works for DTC brands on Reddit?

  • Real product photos, in use, not studio shots.

  • A headline that names a problem the community talks about.

  • Honest details: what it costs, how it's made, who it's not for.

  • One message per ad. If you need more words, you don't understand your product yet.

What results can a DTC brand expect?

Expect the dashboard to show less than Reddit really drives. People see an ad, then buy days later through Google or by typing your store address, so many sales show up as search or direct. For one DTC brand we work with, Google searches for the brand name rose from about 500 a day to almost 3,000 a day after Reddit ads launched, with no other channels running.

That's why we judge DTC campaigns on total sales and brand searches, not on Reddit's dashboard alone. More in why Reddit ads look bad in your dashboard.

How much should a DTC brand budget?

Reddit's minimum is $5 a day per ad group, but that's a launch budget, not a learning budget. In our experience, anything below about $6,000 over 3 months ($2,000 a month) won't teach you much. Split the budget roughly 80/20 between new audiences and people who already visited your store. Cost details are in how much do Reddit ads cost?

Reddit ads for Shopify: FAQ

Does Reddit integrate with Shopify?

Yes. Reddit offers a Shopify integration for the pixel and product catalog, which makes Dynamic Product Ads easier to set up.

Should DTC brands use the traffic or conversions objective?

Conversions, once the pixel is tracking purchases. Traffic campaigns optimize for clicks, not buyers.

Why do Reddit sales show up as Google or direct traffic?

Many people see the ad, then search for your brand or type your address later. Track brand searches and total sales to see Reddit's full effect.
